What we collect during the pilot

AleroOutdoors is a pilot run by AleroLabs. This page covers the sign-up form and the invite-only pilot app.

The sign-up form

What you type into it: your name, email, optional phone number, state, county and acres (landowners), party size (hunters and riders), the activities you pick, and your notes. We also log the IP address the form came from, to block spam.

The pilot app

If you have an account: your name, email and password (stored scrambled, never readable), and the profile you fill in: phone, photo, emergency contact, and hunting license state and number. For landowners: the land you list, including its boundary, photos, rules and waiver. For trips: who was in the party, the waiver each person signed (with the time and IP address), check-in and check-out times, your position at the moment you check in, the messages you send on a trip, and any reviews you write.

Who sees what

A landowner you ask to book with sees the profile of everyone in the party. The exact boundary of a property is shown only to a party the landowner has approved. A review of the land shows on the listing with your first name. A landowner's review of a party is shown to that party and to other landowners those people later ask to book with.

What stays on your phone

Your live position on the trip map is worked out on your phone and is not sent to us or to the landowner. If you save a trip for offline use, a copy of that trip and its map is kept in your browser on that phone; it is erased when you sign out.

How we use it

Only to run the pilot and to contact you about it. We don't sell it, share it with advertisers, or put you on anyone else's list. The site sets no tracking or advertising cookies; the app sets one cookie to keep you signed in.

Where it's kept

On our own servers in the United States. Backups are kept on a rolling schedule of about 60 days. The satellite map is loaded from Esri, which sees your IP address and the area of the map you look at.

Getting it removed

Email [email protected] and we'll delete your sign-up or your account. It will drop out of backups within about 60 days.

No payments go through the site during the pilot. This page will be replaced by a full privacy policy before any payment is taken.
