Plans change. Here's how cancelling works.
During the pilot no money goes through the site, so nobody is charged or refunded for a cancellation. What follows is how cancelling works today, and what we plan once paid bookings start.
If you're the party
- The organizer can cancel any time before the trip, from the trip page. Everyone in the party and the landowner get an email.
- Please give the landowner at least 48 hours' notice. They may have turned other people away or moved cattle for you. A cancellation inside 48 hours is marked as late on the email the landowner gets.
- If one person can't make it, the organizer can take them off the trip instead of cancelling it. The landowner is told.
- You can add someone after the trip is approved, up to the land's limit. They set up a profile and sign the waiver, and the landowner OKs them before they see the map or can check in.
Hunting licenses
You can book before you have a license; many out-of-state hunters buy a nonresident or day license close to the trip. Add the state and number to your profile before you go. 3 days before the trip we email anyone who hasn't, and tell the landowner. You can't check in at the gate without a license on file, and the landowner may cancel the trip if it isn't in by the day.
If you're the landowner
You can cancel an approved trip from the trip page. You pick a reason, which the party sees:
- Weather or ground conditions
- Harvest or field work
- Livestock
- Safety or an emergency
- A hunter has no license yet
- Something else (add a note)
Please cancel as early as you can, and message the party first if there's a chance the day can still work. The date opens back up for other requests as soon as you cancel.
When paid bookings start (planned)
This is our plan, not yet in force. We'll confirm it, and update this page, before any payment is taken.
- 7 or more days before the trip: the party gets a full refund.
- 2 to 7 days before: half back; the landowner keeps the rest for the day they held.
- Under 48 hours, or a no-show: no refund.
- The landowner cancels, for any reason: the party gets a full refund, or can move to another open date.
- No license by the day: treated as the party cancelling, on the timing above.
Something unusual? Email [email protected] and we'll sort it out with both sides.
